iMovie: Finishing Up
Today is the last day that we will be editing our movies in the studio. Be sure to get your movie ready for tomorrows class.
So far we have focused a lot on the production aspects of iMovie, but creating digital video and still imagery is more than just a digitized retelling of facts. You can use images to help students with problem solving and decision making -- these would be LoTi levels 3-5. What standards in your content area lend themselves to digital images? What learning styles can be supported by the use of digital images? What teaching strategies can be supported by using digital images? Does it matter who is creating the image - the teacher or student? Does it matter as far as LoTi levels? Learning?
Remember that the assignment due Thursday also asks you to create an additional webpage and locate 4 examples of teaching/learning with digital images. Included in this page should be a mix of video and still examples. List the examples and use screen shots and descriptions to tell about them. In addition to these links, you should write a brief description of your iMovie and provide a link to it. You can view many more lesson ideas/student examples at the Apple Learning Interchange.
Finally, Write a reflection on the process of developing digital images for teaching and learning. Talk about what you have learned and how the examples you found can be used in your subject area/grade level. Make sure to discuss examples of teacher and student uses of the tools.
NOTE
Please note that Gretchen and I have been extremely lenient about late work so far this semester but will not continue to do so. Without a late pass, this iMovie assignment will not be accepted after 8:00 am on Thursday, June 22. That means that your page should be uploaded correctly with the information described in the project description. You should not be working on the assignment at the start of Thursday's class or asking for assistance in the web page development process. If you have questions about the assignment, they should be addressed well before 8:00 am on Thursday.
FOR THURSDAY:
1. Complete your iMovie and export it as an email version -- make sure everyone in your group has a copy in the assignments folder on their key drive.
2. Create a new webpage
3. Include a link to your iMovie and write a brief description about it (and what you learned creating it). Please note that when you copied your iMovie to your key drive, two files were created. One file begins with a "._" This is not your movie file, it is a Macintosh backup file. Your movie file is elsewhere on your key drive.
4. Write the reflection described in the preceding paragraphs. Remember to include links to four lesson plans, descriptions about them, and a few screen shots.
